Tonight - Breach (2007)
Once in a while a movie comes along that shows no potential what so ever because of a cheesy plot, bad director etc. But then you watch it and you realize how wrong you were. The world actually seems to shift slightly and you feel like stabbing your old self for being such an idiot.
Well, that's how we would describe our experience with this movie. It's so subtle in its beauty that you may very well miss it but the key is to give it a chance.
Breach is about a young FBI agent (Ryan Phillippe) working undercover under a senior agent (Chris Cooper) who's being suspected of leaking government secrets to the Soviet Union and later Russia. It's based on a true story and is one of the things that are working for it. The tone is surprisingly realistic and not typical for the genre but the intensity is still crazy, thanks to fantastic acting.
If you're bored of the typical spy movie and want something new this is a perfect movie to watch on a gloomy Sunday night.
